(Press release from Mono District Attorney)
In early April 2012, the District Attorney’s Office was alerted to an allegation of misappropriation of funds from the Bridgeport Public Utility District. The District Attorney’s Office opened an investigation which revealed that former General Manager Cheryl Goode issued herself numerous unsubstantiated payments.
An arrest warrant charging misappropriation of public funds was sought, and on May 17, 2012, Mrs. Goode turned herself in at the Mono County Jail. Mrs. Goode posted the bail amount of $25,000.00 and is due to appear in the Superior Court, County of Mono on June 5, 2012 to face charges of misappropriation of public funds.
Having lived in Mammoth for 5 years, I can honestly say I’ve never heard any Mammoth resident comment one way or the other re: their personal feelings about the citizens of Bridgeport.
This must be some sort of cultural myth that goes way back when.
County employees beating each other up.
Bridgeport citizens stealing money.
North County with open hatred for anybody from South County.
Is there something in the water that is freaking Bridgeport people out?
cops that get in bar fights, town council that drives town to bankruptcy, mountain laying off long time employees, and for the record I have never not one time seen a negative comment on here from north county folks expressing “Open hatred ” toward anyone in south county. I have… Read more »
Just one..”nothing to do’s” comments are, unfortunatly, how most in Mammoth feel, not only about Bridgeport, but also Inyo County,Southern Cal,and beyond….like they think they are SO MUCH better than others.when,in fact,it’s just the opposite…and it’s a reason why so many are accually kinda relishing the situation they find themselves in now..I have been… Read more »
I think it’s a stretch to say you know how “most in Mammoth feel.” If each of us individuals made it a point to stop judging each other based on location, geography, etc. what a happy world it would be.
Benett Kessler
Benett..Your right…..Can I change the “most” to “many” in my above comment ?
No reason to get nasty Wayne Deja.
This is not a black-or-white issue at all.
There are those who prefer a larger selection of dining, lodging, recreation, movies, theatre, concerts, shopping …
Others clearly are content doing the camping thing.
This is merely a different strokes for different folks thing.
So how much did she ripoff from the Sheeple/Taxpayers?
GGW
Hmmmm.
Yet another Bridgeport news of the weird story.
Don’t those people have any hobbies or something?
Too much time on their hands, it seems to me.
Yeah as opposed to all of the child molestors and embezzlers in Mammoth. Every where has some bad folks or folks that make bad decisions. It is not a reflection on the entire town OR ITS PEOPLE
Per capita, a lot of people living in Bridgeport (fairly or unfairly) have developed the reputation of angst-ridden Tea Party types and by-and-large have an obviously nasty attitude towards things and strangers outside their town limits. One wonders if the entire 875 people of Bridgeport have reunions, weddings and anniversaries… Read more »
yeah what ever Nothing to do in Bridgeport .. go peddle your hate elsewhere.
You must be from the “booming”town of Mammoth Lakes….There is PLENTY to “do” in Bridgeport…besides going out at night, getting drunk and high, like in some towns south.Bridgeport fishing is 10 times as good as south county…same with camping…and hunting. The locals are friendly,if you go to town the last night of your… Read more »
Things are booming so much in Bridgeport that the population has been on the decline for years.
Today’s lesson: Study the meaning of Red-neck Arrogance and at least read a book or something.
Amen Ken
Wow Wayne, so how do you feel about Darwin? 🙂
Wayne, I am not sure if you have heard about this, but they have skiing in Mammoth. They sell over a million tickets a year. It is one of the largest ski areas in the country and often has the longest ski season with the most snow. I could be… Read more »
