When more than six cop cars with red lights and sirens tear down Line St. in Bishop, they get attention.

We followed the rushing police and deputies. They were headed to Manor Market. Police said a robbery or burglary alarm had gone off, and the officers took plenty of fire power.

In a flash, more than half a dozen officers stood outside the market with guns at the ready, waving traffic to get away from the scene.

And, then, just as quickly as the adrenaline shot up, it was all over. Police said that someone had “accidentally” set off the alarm.

Inside Manor Market, officers stationed themselves to make sure all was well.

It was an example of very rapid local police protection when the alarm called.

Ironically, two hours later an accidental alarm went off a K-Mart on the other side of Bishop. The Fire Department responded but quickly learned of the mistake.
