– Inyo County Sheriff’s Office
Bishop has had a string of burglaries recently in the North Sierra Highway area, and we are asking for the public’s assistance:
• On March 20th a local resident reported a lock being cut off a storage shed at the Meadow Lakes Storage facility – 2356 North Sierra Highway.
• On March 24th the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a burglary at a See Vee Lane property (very close to North Sierra Highway); the house had been broken into and three racing bicycles were stolen.
• On March 25th at about 2:00AM, Wave Rave Snowboard Store on North Sierra Highway was broken into, and approximately $1,000 in clothing was stolen.
Please remember to lock your doors, and be mindful of any suspicious activity. If anything suspicious is noticed please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 760-878-0383 – or simply dial 911.
Extra patrols are taking place in the North Sierra Highway area. At this point there are no leads – all illegal activity has been detected by residents and business owners after the intruder or intruders have committed the crimes. If anyone has any tips, please call 760-878-0383, or you can fill out the “Report a Crime” form located at: http://www.inyocounty.us/so/report-crime/
Trouble ; Agreed…..What these “kids” need is “thief re-hab”,not jail time.Or just maybe all they need is “education”…..maybe they don’t know burglary and theft is a crime, and all it will take is someone letting them breaking into homes and business’ is wrong, followed by giving them a big hug.If that don’t… Read more »
I hope this is satire…. if it is “applause”

To bad it cost 50 grand a year to lock up these kids!
If they are caught — give them probation and a scholarship conditioned on getting at least a C average in school. If they don’t get the grade then they go to jail.
Thats right Ken, give them more of a chance, support and encourage them to be a productive citizen.. What I see is the District Attorneys acting like pacman (consuming everything in front of them), and once released from incarceration what steps do public funds or “representatives of the people” do… Read more »
I could go with that…provided it includes restitution too. While I agree jail/prison may do more harm than good for a young, minor criminal, we can’t let them have no repercussions at all. That would encourage the ‘bad guys’ to use first time offenders to do their dirty work. Probation,… Read more »
sugarmagnolia: The restitution is not a bad idea if appropriate — damaged or stolen property etc. — but turing a person into a productive member of society has greater benefits for the society.
Going to school and succeeding is not easy to do. Some would opt for jail.
Ken; Or we could always go with a plan B,maybe after conviction, for those that burglarize business’ and homes that might not succeed in Collage with the scholarship given to them.Maybe we should set them up in a nice place to live, rent free for a year. And get them a reliable vehicle… Read more »
Low-Inyo, So what you’re saying is encourage them to commit crimes because, we the people will get them a car and a place to live for a year? And spending money, why work?? They’re capable of going to find a job, and work hard to get a car and a… Read more »
I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess Low-Inyos post was sarcastic. (I hope!)
Hey ken, I want to touch on that. I hope everybody realizes Inyo and Mono has what I believe is one of the cheapest college education systems in the state. It only requires a C average. Community College is free, and the University of Nevada offers in state rates as… Read more »
