Roger Button was born December 22, 1949 in Bishop, CA. to Irene and Leslie Button. Roger passed away unexpectedly March 17, 2018.

Roger grew up in the Owens Valley, and attended school in Lone Pine. He was active in the Boy Scouts, Troop 82. Roger’s father was the Troop Leader. During High School Roger participated in baseball and football. Roger Graduated Lone Pine High School Class of 1969.

After completing high school, Roger ventured on, moving to Echo Park where he attended trade school for automotive services. After completing trade school he became a transmission specialist. He worked at the trade school as a specialist teaching the art of transmissions.

He was later employed by Thomas Cadillac as a transmission specialist for ten years and later Modern Motors Cadillac for a year before returning to the Owens Valley. Roger had missed the Owens Valley, and especially missed his family and friends.

Roger was a member of the Lone Pine Paiute Shoshone Reservation. Roger had his best friend “Bud” his “Beer drinking Buddy” They would cruise in Roger’s 57’ Chevy where they could be found at “The Tree”, “Crabhole”, or by the Dump. Roger enjoyed fishing and hunting in the Owens Valley. His favorite past time activity was gambling at the Independence Casino, and Paiute Palace where he had numerous friends.

Roger is preceded in death by his father Leslie, his sister Patricia, Grandmother Effie Hackett, his aunts Janie, Loraine, Florence, and Vivian; his cousins Donald and Robert Gockley, and his long time friend Roland “Bud” Naylor.

Roger is survived by his loving Mother Irene Button, his brothers, Eugene Button (Joanne), and Richard Button (Rosaleen), and many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

Roger will be forever missed by all of us, he was truly a good man. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held March 25, 2018 at 1:00PM, at the Lone Pine Paiute Shoshone Gymnasium, on E-Sha road in Lone Pine. There will be a potluck luncheon after the services, all are welcome to attend.”
