Talk about multi-tasking. Santa Claus has made numerous appearances in Inyo and Mono this month. He rode into the Footloose parking lot in Mammoth on the back of a fire truck. Like a rock star, Santa was mobbed by children as he walked from the fire truck to the platform where he did what he does best – handed out toys.

Santa also appeared at Santa Day in the Minaret Village Mall in Mammoth. The Claus Celeb turned up at the Streets of Lights holiday in Bishop.

Beautiful Christmas trees are now lit in many of our towns – Independence, Big Pine, Bishop and Mammoth Lakes. Lots of sparkly holiday lights all around, too.

Other holiday notes: the Mammoth High School Booster’s Christmas Tree sales underway at the Vons Parking lot in Mammoth. Proceeds benefit high school sports and academic programs.

Finally, at the Highway Patrol office in Bishop, a gathering of toys. The CHP will collect toys as part of the Chips for Kids Toy Drive this month. Barrels are in the lobby of CHP offices for people to drop off new, unwrapped toys that will be distribut3ed to needy children and teens this holiday season. Toys will be collected until 5pm December 19th.

You can drop off toys in Bishop between 8 am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

One more thing. The Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce has organized a holiday decorating contest. Decorate your storefront or home and win amazing prizes. Register by December 15th, and voting will continue through December. The winner will be announced January 8th. For more info, call the Chamber at 934-6717 or go to [email protected].
