Second Trial For Former Police Officer

After an acquittal and a mistrial, a second trial date has been set for a Southern California Police Officer arrested in June of 2005 after an alleged gun incident on Main Street, Bishop.

Police arrested James Mark Assad of Signal Hill California after several calls to 911 that reported a man pointing a gun at people and making threats.

When Assad got his day in court in January, the jury found him not guilty on one count of assault with a firearm and not guilty on charges of attempting to dissuade witness from reporting a crime and criminal threats.

With the jury unable to reach a verdict on one count of assault with a firearm and one count of criminal threats, a second trial has been scheduled for December 10th on the remaining charges.
