inyosups 1-4-11The Inyo Supervisors planned to meet Tuesday starting at 9am at the Administrative Center in Independence.  One of their agenda items includes appointment of two people to serve on the Inyo Water Commission.

Members of the public continue to gripe about water commission appointments.  The main objection is the Board’s selection of what is perceived as “go along” candidates, not those critical of current water issues.

In keeping with the Supervisors’ own non-aggressive relationship with the Department of Water and Power, commissioners have been viewed as mostly non-analytical and non-critical.

The field of candidates for  selection include Mike Prather, Bruce Dishion, George Lozito, Sally Manning, Jack Pound and Daniel Pritchett.

Meanwhile, the Mono Supervisors planned to meet in Bridgeport starting at 9am Tuesday.  Due to an increase in air flights to Mammoth-Yosemite Airport, the Supervisors may ask Caltrans to change the classification of the Hot Creek/ Airport Road.

The Board expected to hear from the Eastern Sierra Avalanche Center on funding.  And, the Board planned a workshop on additional construction stimulus strategies.  Earlier, the Mono Board had agreed to reduce some fees in the construction process to help the economy.
