The Tehipite fire, which sent smoke toward the Eastern Sierra for much of the summer, was expected to burn out on its own. That now appears to be happening. Smoke from this fire has not drifted over the Sierra crest in weeks. Webcam views of the fire show very little burning left.

Cooler temperatures, some light precipitation, and shorter days have stopped the growth of this fire. At the beginning of October, the fire was listed at 11,085 acres in size. Three weeks later the fire remains listed at the same size.

The lightning-caused fire started July 14th and was left to burn out naturally. Smoke drifted into the Eastern Sierra. At last word very little fire activity was reported.
