Two inmates have been missing from the Owens Valley Conservation Camp
since Friday.

According to a press release from the California State Department of
Corrections and Rehabilitation, on Friday, June 22, at approximately 10:10
p.m., two Sierra Conservation Camp inmates in Inyo County were discovered
missing during a camp count.

Inmates Jessy Lopez and Otoniel Aldana could not be located by camp staff
at the completion of a count conducted at 10:10 p.m. Escape procedures
were immediately activated.

Lopez and Aldana were described as minimum-custody inmates.

The press release states Lopez was serving a six-year sentence for Grand
Theft Auto; the crime occurred in Los Angeles County. Lopez was scheduled
to parole in September, 2012. Lopez may be wearing orange pants and an
orange shirt, black boots and an orange prison jacket with prison
lettering.

Lopez is a Hispanice male, with black short-length hair and medium build.
He is approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 175 pounds.

Aldana was serving a seven-year senence for Assault with a firearm, the

crime also occurring in Los Angeles County. Aldana was scheduled for
parole in July, 2016. Aldana may be wearing orange pants and an orange
shirt, black boots and an orange prison jacket with prison lettering.

Aldana is a Hispanic male with black short-length hair and a medium build.
He is approximately 5-8 and 165 pounds.

A search for Lopez and Aldana was initiated and officials have notified
surrounding residents and law enforcement agencies.

Anyone seeing Lopez or Aldana is asked to call 911.

Owens Valley Conservation Camp and located about 10 miles north of Bishop
on Highway 395 and houses approximately 128 minimum-security inmates.
Owens Valley Camp is jointly operated by CalFire and CDCR and is under the
jurisdiction of Sierra Conservation Center.

The primary mission of this camp to to respond to statewide wildfire
emergencies and fire prevention conservation projects in Inyo and Mono
counties.
