mammoth_airportLike a black cloud, the potential $30 million court ruling against the Town of Mammoth Lakes has loomed in the distance since the 2008 Hot Creek trial.

Its been over two years since the court found the Town of Mammoth Lakes broke an agreement with Hot Creek Aviation over a real estate development at the Mammoth Yosemite Airport. So far no money has been paid out except to pay lawyers to appeal the decision.

Town Manager Rob Clark explained that the Town has not yet received a date for the oral arguments in the appeal process. The appeals court has to give the Town thirty days notice as to the date the oral arguments are scheduled. After the oral arguments, the court has 90 days to make a decision, he explained. At this point it appears that the oral arguments may occur in the September time frame, Clark explained, but right now the Town is in wait and see mode.
