Inyo Sheriff’s officers have arrested five men in connection with what they described as a “vicious assault” on Lone Pine resident, 29-year-old Ryan Armstrong, who suffered serious injuries including a broken jaw, fractured vertebrae, six fractured ribs, a fractured eye socket and several contusions. The assault occurred August 23rd. One man faces an attempted murder charge. The case also involves robbery, burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Officers had earlier confirmed that someone broke into Armstrong’s home and assaulted him. Sheriff Bill Lutze said the man drove himself to the hospital, where he was airlifted to Loma Linda Hospital. Suspects face the following charges:

d.smith20-year-old David Allen Smith faces charges of burglary, battery, conspiracy to commit a crime, receiving stolen property and attempted murder.

t.mccullah19-year-old Tyler Allen McCullah was charged with burglary, battery, conspiracy to commit a crime, receiving stolen property, robbery and violation of probation.

a.jorgenson18-year-old Anthony James Jorgenson faces burglary, battery, conspiracy to commit a crime, receiving stolen property and robbery.

18-year-old Cameron Andrew Grayson faces burglary, battery, conspiracy to commit a crime, receiving stolen property, c.graysonand robbery.

j._garcia23-year-old Jose Garcia faces burglary, battery, conspiracy to commit a crime, receiving stolen property, and vandalism.

Smith was jailed under $500,000 bail. The others, $100,000.

A press release from the Inyo Sheriff’s Department quotes Investigator Paul Dorame that while the arrests mark a significant milestone, the investigation remains open and “details must be preserved.” The Sheriff’s Department asks the public to call 878-0383 to report any information that could lead to the recovery of stolen items.
