The Tiger Bar in June Lake Ordered to Close by Mono County Public Health Officer.
Are the public health authorities finally getting serious in the efforts to enforce compliance with the Governor’s Executive Orders and public health orders in the state? That it is the Mono County Public Health Officer, Dr. Tom Boo, that took action should surprise no one. Boo has consistently and aggressively approached the need for public health orders and compliance from the beginning of the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
Increasingly, there are many complaints on social media about the lack of enforcement of the public health orders, which some suggest are only “recommendations.” Others make specious claims that Constitutional rights are being violated or that there is a government plot or conspiracy, calling the public health crisis a “plandemic,” a deliberate attempt by government to “silence and control the American people,” and then going on to derisively refer to the public that follow health orders as “sheeple.”
Many businesses were clamoring to “reopen,” promising to comply with health and safety protocols to safeguard their employees and their customers, even filing attestations with the county that they would do so. However, in several instances, that appears to not be the case. This action by the Mono County Public Health Department might just be the start of that enforcement.
Yep,let’s blame it all on the protesters. But no blame goes to those that choose to make a political statement by not wearing a mask. And/or blaming the States,Counties and cities that opened too soon and allowed the large gatherings at taverns, beaches, and in some cases, political rallies where they were urged… Read more »
Good for Dr. Boo, shame on Tiger Bar for flouting the health requirements. Nationwide, reports show that the COVID spikes are more due to bar reopenings than protests. Bars are significant spreader locations, not the civil rights protests. Locally, the overwhelming majority of people attending two local civil rights protests… Read more »
Yes I agree in some regards. If masking, proper distancing and sanitation is in place there’s no need to close down our businesses. All thats being asked to help is to follow these public health measures to prevent and slow the spread. In no way did I advocate the closing… Read more »
FishinDay395, there are two salient facts which would seem to be logically related to the new peaks in reported cases: First, this enhanced infection experience coincidentally started to appear about two weeks after the massive street protests and marches, in which thousands of protesters were together for prolonged time periods,… Read more »
“The word will get out fast to wear the masks.” ???? Four months of the “word getting out” wasn’t fast enough for the almost 130K people who’ve died in the US during that period of time. The reopening of the states has overwhelmingly involved thousands more people, mask-less, going about… Read more »
IMO,what people living up here should do is quit going to the Tiger Bar and restaurant all together once they can open up again. They ignored the health and safety orders put in place because of wanting the all mighty $$$$$ and tourist revenue. Not caring about anything else. Let… Read more »
Common sense would also be simply asking why are we experiencing new peaks in cases after a significant decline? The answer is pretty simple and well, “common sense.”
Common sense would be taking the necessary measures to protect our communities and not drinking the kool aid politicians with no medical expertise what so ever are serving……
Tiger Bar has been operating for over a month with no Covid cases tied to the bar?! How about some common sense instead of pointing fingers. But you can’t help your self righteous, tsk, tsk…quit drinking the kool-aid and start drinking a beer.
how do you know there have been no covid cases tied to the bar? Tiger Bar had plenty of opportunities to do the right thing but, instead, the owner/manager voiced their priorities loud and clear, and they don’t include the well-being of Inyo-Mono County and/or June Lake locals.
How do you know there hasn’t been? If you are afraid, stay home, but let the rest of us get out and have some fun and enjoy life again! Protesters can be out and about, so can everyone else.
Come on. I don’t know there hasn’t been, you are the one who said that “Tiger Bar has been operating for over a month with no Covid cases tied to the bar?!” I’m just asking how you know that. I’m not “afraid” – I simply have respect for others. I… Read more »
MP’s comment reminds me of a former neighbor who liked to boast about never getting lung cancer, even though he smoked cigarettes for years. Sadly he passed away from COPD.
Thank you Dr. Boo !
no one got all wound up like this when it was “no shirt no shoes no service” they just put shoes on and didn’t rage about their right to go barefoot. I don’t even think we need to mandate masks, I’m for personal responsibility. Regardless we still need to follow… Read more »
All of the above
Good thing we don’t have any bars in Bishop that are not complying with the public health mandates.
Excellent work my comrades!!!!
Charles O.Jones Apparently,it is VERY hard for some to act and be responsible. See the above and first post from “Denny”,trying to turn it into an “hypocrisy” and “control” issue. Some making it much more important to have a June Lake-Mammoth Mountain “night life” for the tourists than it is… Read more »
We all want to get back to normal sooner rather than later. We can all help to get there by being responsible doing our part towards the effort. It’s not that hard.
Because bars are where you get the Rona, not nursing homes….
We live in Bishop but we still say ” thank you ” Dr. Boo. ???? Keep up the great work !!! ????

Thank you Dr. Boo!
Double standards and hypocrisy all over the State of California! It’s ALL about control! Wake up people or the “WOKE” will crush YOU!
