Mammoth Town Staff reports a significant step toward commercial air service out of the Mammoth Airport.

After the old plan to expand the runway and fly 747s into Mammoth sank, the new plan surfaced to use the existing facilities and fly in smaller, 80 passenger turbo prop planes. Part of the plan is to gut an existing maintenance facility and convert the building into a terminal for arriving and departing passengers.

Now, town staff reports that the bid to find a contractor to do the re-model job is expected to go out this week. If all goes well, town staff reports that construction on this part of the airport project could begin in May.

Work on the Environmental Impact Statement for the Airport continues as well. Comments on the Draft are in and Town Staff reports that work on the final EIS continues as well.
