Charges Filed In Alleged Mammoth Fraud Case

The Mono District Attorneys Office has filed charges against Anika Altman, who is alleged to have embezzled money from Mammoth Mountain Ski Area.

In August Mammoth Police reported the arrest of Altman on 16 counts of unauthorized access to computer data with the intent to commit theft of fraud, 18 counts of embezzlement, and two counts of commercial burglary.

Investigations began when a Mammoth Business reported a burglary and the theft of cash, according to police. Officers report that there were no signs of forced entry and the money was taken from a location likely known only to employees.

Assistant District Attorney Kyle Graham reports that when he reviewed the police reports and related evidence, he consolidated some of the charges and elected not to proceed on others for now. Graham reports Altman now faces only two charges, felony embezzlement and felony grand theft.
