Well, yesterday was a nice winter day in the summer, here in the Eastern Sierra. Winds howled through out the district with gusts to 50 mph in Mono County and 40 mph in the Owens Valley. Sonora Pass closed because of snow and the Town of Mammoth Lakes had a daytime high temperature of only 40 degrees, with rain most of the day. To top this all off, Mammoth Mountain picked up another 6 inches of new snow. Now for today thru the weekend, just the opposite will happen, as a massive ridge of  high pressure builds in from the desert SW. This will bring clear skies, much reduced winds, and hot temperatures to our whole region. Temps will soar to the triple digits in the Owens Valley and the mid 80s in Mammoth by Sunday. What a roller coaster weather year we have had!
