mammothabovetownA deep low (for this time of year) will kick through the area later today and tomorrow, before quickly exiting to the East. We can expect windy conditions, possible thunderstorm activity, and showers in the upper elevations. Light snow is possible above 9,500 feet along parts of the Sierra, particularly in Mono County. Temperatures will take a pronounced drop through Wednesday. By Thursday, a gorilla high sets up over the entire southern half of the United States. So, look for a quick jump to above normal temps by the weekend, with triple digits in the Owens Valley and mid 80s in Mono County. Things stay on  hot side for the 4th of July (what else is new). One added wrinkle here, by Sunday or Monday a weak monsoonal flow could develop over the Desert SW, giving us the slight chance of thunderstorms. Stay tuned for updates on this.
