A large Texas based ridge will expand slowly westward, from the SE, into the weekend. Now this ridge is the one that has caused Dallas to have 38 straight days of temperatures of 100 degrees or higher. Its movement towards our are will only raise temperatures a few degrees on Saturday and bring a little monsoon moisture to the area over the weekend. Not a lot, but enough to to provide some mountain cloud cover and a slight chance of an isolated shower or two. Then a trough from the Gulf  of Alaska will dig south and reach the Pacific Coast Sunday night into Monday. This will lower temperatures several degrees into the early part of next week.
