Dry but windy conditions will continue today. However, those winds should not go above advisory levels except in northern Mono County. The winds settle down on Wednesday and Thursday with temps running just below seasonal norms. As we move into Friday and weekend, a trough off the coast stays in place, as it has for most of the Spring and Summer. This will lead to steady temperatures in the normal range through the early part of next week. Also, this unusually strong tough pattern, for mid July, has (so far) kept the monsoonal flow well to our east.

For those interested, the Lion Wildland fire, west of Olancha, continues to burn. This has dumped plenty of afternoon smoke in the Whitney / Williamson area. I have directed my office staff to place a PM monitor in Onion Valley today, to document this event. So far the smoke has remained above monitors in the Owens Valley.
