Mammoth Lakes, CA Eastern Sierra Symphony’s (ESS) Executive Director Aimee Kreston and Artistic Director/Conductor Edwin Outwater have assembled an exciting and accessible program of classical music for this summer’s symphony concerts taking place August 11-13. The programs range from Schubert to Rossini to Beethoven to Nathaniel Stookey’s recently premiered YTTE.

The orchestra consists of professional musicians from symphonies around the country, including Pasadena, San Francisco, St. Louis and Minnesota as well as student musicians of the highest caliber, performing side-by-side. Saturday evening Outwater conducts a program that includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1; Schubert’s Overture in the Italian Style; Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 featuring renowned violinist Suzie Park; and Nathaniel Stookey’s recently premiered YTTE, with Stookey present for the concert. Ticket prices for the Saturday concert range from $10 for Youth to $50 for VIP seating.

Friday’s concert will be free to the community and will feature guest conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser. He will be leading the symphony with professional musicians and local artists, as well as the exceptional students in a program that includes Rossini; Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 1 featuring the 2016 Horton-Kohl youth artist, 15 year old cellist Claire Park; and Andrew Norman’s Gran Turismo.

Thursday evening kicks off the festivities with a fundraising dinner at Sierra Events Center featuring music, food, fun, and an exciting silent auction with outstanding items, including a nine-night stay in a Paris apartment on the Montmartre. Tickets for the Thursday event are $125 per person with all proceeds going to support the programming of the Eastern Sierra Symphony.

Eastern Sierra Symphony, consisting of professional musicians and pre-professional students of the highest caliber, is a 501c3 non-profit that is funded through ticket sales for its August concerts (in 2016 the week of August 8-13), as well as the generosity of donors, grants, and some public funding.
