In June, Bishop based mountain guide Kurt Wedberg returned from his second trip to the summit of 29,028 foot Mt. Everest. This Friday, Wedberg has scheduled a slide show on his most recent trip to the highest point on earth.

The mountaineer has now climbed the peak by two different routes, once on the Tibetan side and once on the Nepali side. He first climbed the mountain 13 years ago. He says since that time, the number of people on Everest has increased dramatically.

Despite the suffering and drama reported in the media, Wedberg says that his recent trip was characterized more by personal stories of achievement. With no frostbite or rescues, Wedberg described heading to the summit with a Sherpa who had lost an oxygen bottle but they went on together anyway.

The slide show scheduled for Friday is a family affair. Kurts father, John Wedberg, (who also host the KSRW jazz show) has organized a seven world class musicians to play a bit of jazz before the slide show.

This mountaineering slideshow with a side of swing starts at 6:30 Friday in the Bishop High School Auditorium. If you can, there is a $10 suggested donation that will help the Bishop Friendship Center provide care for local people with Alzheimers Disease.
