A difficult day for Bishop CHP officers. A roll-over collision along US-395 near SR-190 in Olancha resulted in two juveniles being ejected. One of the ejected passengers was a four year old child who died on scene. Press Release follows:

“On 01/02/20 at approximately 8:23 AM, a 34 year old female from Moreno Valley, CA, was driving a 2017 Dodge Journey northbound on US-395 in the town of Olancha.  She allowed her vehicle to drift off the roadway onto the east dirt shoulder.  In an attempt to redirect her vehicle into the northbound lane, she turned sharply to the left.  The Dodge rotated across US-395 onto the west shoulder where it overturned multiple times.  Two unrestrained juvenile passengers were ejected from the vehicle as a result of the collision.  One of the juveniles sustained multiple traumatic injuries and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.  The remaining six victims were immediately transported to medical care facilities. A sixth passenger was a 9 year old male from Moreno Valley, Ca. and was transported to Southern Inyo Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

This collision is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.  The deceased victim’s identity will be released by the Inyo County Coroner’s Department. “
