Mammoth Lakes, CA – On Thursday, August 4, 2016, the Mammoth Lakes Police Department responded to a traffic collision on Main Street at Mountain Boulevard at approximately 8:54 pm.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. When the driver of the vehicle stopped to assist, a second vehicle was also involved with a second collision.

This second vehicle fled the scene and was described as a dark SUV, unknown make or model. Alcohol was not a factor for the driver of the first vehicle. Despite receiving first aid and lifesaving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to the injuries received from the impact. Identity of the deceased will be released after notification of next-of-kin.

The Mammoth Lakes Police Department is continuing their investigation and are attempting to locate this second vehicle. Additional assistance was provided by the Mono County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, Cal-Trans, and Bluesapalooza security staff.
