Another day of thunderstorm activity has brought with it rain, wind, lightning, and now fire.

At roughly 12:30 Friday afternoon, Forest Service Fire Fighters were called out to respond to what appeared to be a lightning caused fire burning in the Coyote Flat area west of Bishop.

A small column of smoke was visible through the clouds by about 1:00 pm. Forest Officials report that units were headed toward the fire at last word. How large the fire is at this time is not known. A visible smoke cloud did not appear to be large at about 1:00 pm. The plan was to also send a helicopter to size up the fire.
