David Douglas Speidel, the 21 year old mammoth man accused of throwing a four and a half month old puppy off a second floor balcony, has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty.

In April, Mammoth Police Officers reported that the suspect threw the puppy, named Rowdy, off of the second floor balcony into a frozen snow bank, badly injuring the dog. According to police, the suspect’s girlfriend said that Speidel became angry when he stepped, barefooted, into dog feces inside her apartment.

Deputy District Attorney Kyle Graham reports that Speidel has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor animal cruelty, but has not yet been sentenced. As a misdemeanor, Speidel does not face prison time, but the possibility of time in the county jail does remain.
