Mike Harris of Chalfant Valley, convicted of child molestation and rape by a Mono County Jury in early December, was set for sentencing Friday. That date is off.harris

According to the Mono District Attorney’s office, the sentencing will be continued. At this time there is no specific date set.

The Harris trial lasted about five weeks. The District Attorney’s office had filed 25 counts of lewd and lascivious acts involving a child under 14 and forcible rape of a child under 14 against Harris. The jury found Harris guilty of 18 counts of lewd and lascivious acts against two victims and one count of rape of a child under 14.

The jury had viewed videotaped interviews of the two victims who were between the ages of 8 and 14 at the time of the crimes. Testimony revealed that Harris met the mother of the two girls online in 2001 and that she and her daughters had moved to Bishop with Harris and later to Chalfant Valley.

Harris was jailed prior to his trial and remains in custody at the Mono County Jail in Bridgeport.
