In holiday news from Mammoth Lakes, here’s a chance to help the hungry, pick up presents and support Disabled Sports.

Help support the disabled who want a life of sport.

First the special food donation event.  Saturday morning at 10am at Snowcreek Athletic Club, bring a food donation for admission and enjoy a free Zumba Fitness class.  Kaysie Williams will teach the class, and the food donation will go to Inyo-Mono Advocates for Community Action, that’s IMACA.  Lots of food is needed right now.  You can call IMACA for more information at 760-934-3343.

Meanwhile, some helpful information from Mammoth Post Office.  Postmaster Jim Epperly sent out the word that the post office will offer extended hours to pick up holiday packages.  Additional hours for package pick up will be available Monday through Friday, December 19th through December 23rd from 4 to 6pm at the blue dutch doors.

Package pick up will also be available on Saturdays, December 17th and December 24th from 8am to noon. The post office will celebrate Christmas and will be closed Monday, December 26th.

Finally, a reminder about the annual fundraiser for Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra, Island Extravaganza.  That happens Saturday at Canyon Lodge in Mammoth from 6 to 11pm with dinner, live music and a raffle.  Kathy Copeland, director of Disabled Sports, has also made it possible to support Disabled Sports from home if you can’t make it to Island Extravaganza.

You can donate on the website at www.disabledsportseasternsierra.org.  You can donate by phone.  Call 760-934-0791 or send a check to P.O. Box 7275, Mammoth 93546.  Donations go toward scholarships for disabled students who want to learn adaptive skiing or snowboarding and for the Wounded Warrior program.
