Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop recently received an award from the National Research Corporation. A 2010 Path to Excellence award recipient went to the facility.

According to hospital officials the award is given to organizations ranked by patients as being in the top five in one of three categories – overall hospital experience, pain management, or communication with nurses.

Northern Inyo Hospital was selected for its fourth place ranking in pain management for hospitals with less than 250 beds.

In other hospital news, construction continues on the new hospital building and will go on through the winter because of the plastic shrink wrap that protects workers from some of the cold air.

The extensive project is scheduled to reach completion in about a year.
