inyo_courthouse.jpgThe proposed Inyo County government budget for this fiscal year amounts to roughly $80 million. The Supervisors were poised to adopt it Tuesday. Nearly 54% of the budget revenue comes from State and Federal governments. Just 21% comes from locally generated taxes. Other sources make up the rest.

County Administrator Kevin Carunchio wrote in the budget summary that this year’s budget provides core County services and avoids major reductions or elimination of programs. It establishes $375,000 for a new County Animal Shelter with hopes for community donations. Almost $98,000 was originally budgeted for matching funds to improve County airports. The budget includes more than $54,000 to match State and Federal funds for senior citizens, and more than $650,0000 was budgeted for other senior programs.

The CAO’s summary indicates as possible issues – telephone cost increases, reimbursement for retiree healthcare costs, litigation over DWP’s Solar Ranch, and other matters.

The agenda item Tuesday calls for possible Board approval of a resolution adopting the budget. The Board may also direct the County Administrator and Auditor to make payments greater than $10,000 to the Inter-Agency Visitor Center, Cal-Expo Exhibit and Tri-County Fairgrounds as listed in the Advertising budget. The Administrator may also be directed to deal with Grants-In-Support programs.
