Third time charm? Inyo County Administrator Ron Juliff said this December will make the third time he has retired.ron_juliff.jpg

Word of Juliff's retirement had leaked out of a closed session from a week ago. Today, Mr. Juliff did confirm that he has decided to retire. December 14th will mark his last day. Juliff said he notified the Board of Supervisors last week.

Juliff has worked for Inyo County government for 5 years. The first two as Economic Development Director under then-CAO Rene Mendez. After Mendez's departure, Juliff took over as Administrator.

Why did he decided to call it quits now? Juliff said that he thought the timing would be better now than next year during a Supervisorial election.

To rumors that Deputy CAO Kevin Carunchio might take over as acting CAO, Juliff said he has given the Supervisors a 90-day notice, so they do have time to deal with a replacement.

With money problems on the rise at the Inyo Courthouse, there is some speculation that the Board might want to hire Carunchio as Administrator and eliminate his deputy position.
