The Town of Mammoth incorporated in August of 1985, and the following May Bill Taylor went to work for the new town as a planner. After more than 22 years, Taylor says he will move on.

Taylor weathered the planning storms of a new and then a growing town through the years, with a major role in the update of the Mammoth General Plan – a painful and very long process.

Taylor confirmed that he had submitted his resignation which will become effective December 20th. Taylor said only that “it’s time to move on.” He did add that he plans to stay in the area and to do some consulting work.

For the Town, Taylor’s departure will mean a loss of year’s of history in the planning and development of the community. He remained senior planner under many departures and arrivals of managers and department heads.

Taylor managed to keep a balanced position in what some have described the vicious waters of Mammoth development.

In fact, he had been extensively honored on the occasion of his 20th year with Mammoth town government.
