2012 Mammoth Biathlon

March 23rd-25th

Subject: It’s BIATHLON Time!

Biathlon minus sixteen days and counting. This year we have a new and exciting venue. Range and course will be at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in the Reds Lake area near the bottom of Chairs 13 and 14. It’s going to be really exciting having boarders and Alpine skiers cheering us on. It’s our chance to have fun and let them see how exciting biathlon is.

Even though it’s been a disappointing snow year, don’t worry. There is more than enough snow in the Reds Lake area. The course this year will be relatively flat with some nice rolling terrain. It will be fun for all ages and abilities. And, you can see the whole course and range from just about anywhere (including Chairs 13 and 14!).

Even if you have only rudimentary cross-country skills, sign up, come out, and have fun. Even if you have never shot before, enter and have fun. There will be shooting clinics on Friday at Snow Creek. Sign up right away–clinics fill up fast. If you can’t make the clinics, our lane masters will show you how to shoot and keep everyone safe. Community rifles and ammunition are included with entry fee. Also, you do not have to carry a rifle when you ski–community rifles are racked at the shooting range. If you have your own biathlon rifle, you may carry it on course, and Elite and National Guard biathletes will carry their rifles.
