The Mammoth Winter Biathlon will burst onto the scene the week-end of March 26 and 27. Right now organizers have their hands full with setting up venues. Their main message – they need volunteers. In fact, they need 200 volunteers to make the event work. They also need participants.

The event is sponsored by Ford and will be filmed via helicopter for the Versus/ Outdoor Channel. The event organizers expect about 300 racers. All proceeds go to the Eastern Sierra Nordic Ski ASsociation and are used for the development of June SC Ski Race Programs. The Biathaon centers round Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center. It involves skiing and rifle shooting.

To volunteer email Donna Mercer, volunteer coordinator at [email protected]. You can also go to www.esnsa.org. The Biathlon organizers have opened up 30 spots in the Friday, noon, Wounded Warriors Biathlon Clinic to the general public. This clinic will shoot at 25 meters. First come, first served. Check out registration forms on the website, esnsa.org.
