mlpd_3-23-102.jpgThe Mammoth Lakes Police Department would like to remind dog owners of Town Ordinances to keep their animals and the public safe.

6.12.010 License—Required – If you live within the Town of Mammoth Lakes limits the owner of any dog over the age of six months shall procure a town dog license and pay thereafter an annual license fee for each dog

6.12.090 Rabies—Vaccination—Required  If you live in a known rabies area (Mono County is so designated) per California Health and Safety Code 121690 (b) (1) Every dog owner, after his or her dog attains the age of three months or older, shall, procure its vaccination by a licensed veterinarian with a canine antirabies vaccine.    

6.12.190 Nuisance behavior-It is unlawful for any person to permit any animal owned by him or in his possession or under his control to defecate or urinate in any public place or on the property of another, to knock over trash cans, dig holes on the property of another or create a nuisance in any public place or on the property of another.

6.12.210 Dog at large– It is unlawful for any person owning, harboring, or having the care, custody or possession of any dog within the town limits of Mammoth Lakes to allow such dog to run at large. Your dog must be on a leash no longer then six (6) feet in length and in the care of a competent person.

**Please keep your dog on a leash while enjoying the Town’s beautiful Parks and Trails for the safety and enjoyment of everyone.

Bicyclist and Skate Boarders of the rules of the road for the safety and enjoyment of everyone

For Bicyclists:

 Bicycle riders and automobile drivers follow the same rules and have the same rights. Example: Cars must stop at a stop sign, and bicycles must stop at a stop sign. Always ride with traffic. Bicyclists must travel in the same direction as cars. Bicyclists must not obstruct traffic and must ride as close as practicable to the right hand side of the roadway.

A person under 18 years of age cannot operate a bicycle or ride as a passenger without a properly fitted and fastened bicycle helmet that meets the standards of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or the SNELL Standards for Protective Headgear.

For Skateboarders:

You have all the rights of a pedestrian but must obey many of the same laws as vehicles:

Obey all signs and signals, including speed limit and stop signs, yield right-of-way signs and traffic signals: Entering the street. Never enter the street suddenly or freestyle down your driveway. You may end up in the path of a vehicle.

Please remember the Volcom Brothers Skate Park does not allow bicycles. Helmets and protective gear are required per Town of Mammoth Lakes Ordinance   12.20.500.
