With one week left to file papers to run for local office, the election scene in Inyo county appears to have stabilized for now, but there have been additions in Mammoth Lakes and Mono County.

If everyone who has pulled papers ends up running, 6 people now seek two seats on the Mammoth Town Council. The race has consisted of Councilmember Kirk Stapp, Jo Bacon, Don McPherson, and former councilmember Tony Barret. Now Town Clerk Anita Hatter reports that Chris Tolley, who ran in the last council election, has taken out papers to run for office. Mayor Skip Harvey has also now taken out papers to run.

If voters approve a recall of Mono County Assessor Jim Lovett, that race could end up crowded. Assistant Assessor Bob Musil has taken out papers to run for assessor. Joel Flamenbaum has taken out papers to run for Assessor as well. Now M. Stewart Bownes and Keith R. Cook have taken out papers to run for the Assessor.

Three supervisor seats are up for election in Mono County. In District 3, Supervisor Vikki Bauer has taken out papers to run for re-election. Now June Lake resident Dorothy Burdette has taken out papers. In District 2, Hap Hazard has taken out papers to seek re-election. Hazard may face some competition since Joseph Conti has taken out papers in District 2 as well.

Incumbent supervisor Bill Reid has taken out papers to run for supervisor in Bridgeport.

The filing deadline for nomination papers is March 7th.
