Names from the past continue to pop up on the local election scene.

Take Districts 4 and 5. Men who used to represent those districts but lost are back. Mike Dorame of Lone Pine has stepped forward to challenge Suprvisor Richard Cervantes, who will seek re-election. Bill Wenzel has also taken out papers to run for the Lone Pine supervisors job.

In District 4 it's another deja vu. Former Superviosr Butch Hambleton, who lost to Jim Bilyeu, is also back. Incumbent Supervisor Jim Bilyeu says he wont run again. Marty Fortney of Aberdeen has stepped forward to run.

In District 2, incumbent supervisor Susan Cash is officially in the race. Ted Gardner has taken out papers to run against Cash.

The three candidates for Inyo Superior Court Judge – Judge Brian Lamb, Bishop attorney Tom Hardy, and Assistant District Attorney for Inyo County, Mark Johnson, have all officially entered the race.

Floyd Barton has filed to run for Marshal.

Also, John Zellhoeferr of Tecopa has filed the paperwork to run for the 34th Assembly District seat currently held by Assemblyman Bill Maze.

In Mammoth, the council seats of Kirk Stapp and Skip Harvey are up for grabs. Jo Bacon and Don McPherson have taken out papers to run so far and so has long-time Councilman Kirk Stapp. The new face in the election mix is a repeat. Former councilmember Tony Barrett has announced that he will run for Council again.

In Mono County Assistant Assessor Bob Musil has taken out papers to run for Assessor if the recall of current Assessor Jim Lovett passes. Joel Flamenbaum has taken out papers to run for Assessor as well.

Three supervisor seats are up for election in Mono County. In District 3, Supervisor Vikki Bauer has taken out papers to run for re-election. In District 2, Hap Hazard has taken out papers to seek re-election. Hazard may face some competition – Joseph Conti has taken out papers in District 2 as well.

The filing deadline for nomination papers is March 7th.
