The private snowboarding event at June Mountain over the weekend prompted the Mono County Sheriffs Department to run extra patrols in the area which led to numerous arrests.

June Mountain is closed for the season, but the Grenade Games were held there over the weekend as a private event. Mono Sheriff officials report that Mono narcotic officers, along with the Highway Patrol and two K-9 units from Douglas County, ran a saturation patrol in the June Lake area Saturday and Sunday.

Sheriff officials say that the officers decided the saturation patrol, was appropriate given that flyers for an after event party made reference to the bong Olympics, and other marijuana references according to officers.

Deputies said that vehicle stops in the June Lake area over the weekend led to roughly 35 arrests and/or citations for violations ranging from Possession for Sales of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics, DUIs, Minors in Possession of Alcohol and various Vehicle Code Violations. When asked which types of drugs were seized, officers said that it was mostly marijuana.
