Work zips along on a new bridge and tunnel for Lake Mary Road in Mammoth. The plan – to have all the work done by Thanksgiving.

Crews decided to work double shifts from 6am to 10pm to get the work done. Steel parts were set to arrive this week. While this work continues, Lake Mary Road remains closed with a detour over Old Mammoth Road.

In an informal interview, Cleland Hoff had asked Mammoth Mountain Ski Area CEO Rusty Gregory about the project. Gregory said that all parties involved with the project decided to figure out who will pay for the re-build of the bridge after the project is done, since time is of the essence.

The tunnel had collapsed October 10th for some unknown reason, a forensic engineer has examined the scene and will issue a report soon.
