Hopes for a Fixed Base Operator for Bishop Airport fell to the floor of the Supervisors Board room when officials voted unanimously to reject a bid.bishopairport300.jpg

The prospect of a new operator for the Airport Caf does still look promising. Interim Public Works Director for Inyo, Doug Wilson, told the Supervisors this week that he could not recommend the only bid for a Fixed Base Operator. He said that the proposal would mean increased costs of around $68,000 for the County.

Wilson did say that he had stalled talks with a separate bidder for the restaurant since the FBO bidder wanted to include the restaurant in his package. Now, Wilson said he would pursue the potential restaurant operator.

The Interim Director also said that he would go to work on proposed fee increases at the airport. Board Chair Linda Arcularius supported negotiations for a restaurant operator. She said the facility is "greatly missed."

Arcularius wanted to make sure that proposed fee hikes would go before the Airport Advisory Committee first. Wilson said he had committed to do that.

The Board voted 5 to 0 to reject the Airport FBO bid.
