Inyo County Sheriff’s Office press release

Emergency Preparedness doesn’t have to be complicated. Residents and business owners are encouraged to prepare now for Spring 2017 runoff.

 Build a kit: A disaster kit should have enough supplies to last a minimum of three days, and should include basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency. Your kit should be built IN ADVANCE so you and your family are ready at a moment’s notice. Ready.gov has complete lists of basic emergency supplies as well as additional items that you may not have thought of. Don’t forget your pets – they need a kit as well.

 Make a plan: Prepare yourself and your family by making an emergency plan, and practicing it! Emergency plans should be tailored to your needs. Examples, information, and printable plans can be found at Ready.gov. Individuals, schools, and businesses should all have comprehensive emergency plans.

 Be informed: Make sure you are registered with CodeRED through the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office – this is the number one notification mechanism for emergency situations in Inyo County. Stay up to date on weather forecasts through the National Weather Service, and pay attention to the weather around you.
