In Mono County court news, 29 year old Bridgeport resident Alfonso Mata has pleaded to charges of rape. Mono Deputy District Attorney Todd Graham reports that Mata was accused of raping an elderly Bridgeport resident in October of 2007. According to Graham, the victim knew Mata as a customer at her local bar. Graham explained that the victim was asleep when she awoke to find Mata having intercourse with her.

After close to a year in the county jail and working through the court process, Mata has pleaded to the charge of rape and agreed to six years in prison, Graham reports. Mata does have what is known as an immigration hold placed on him, meaning that when the man is released from prison it is likely that he will be deported.
