A power outage at the Highlands Mobile Home Park in Bishop left residents without electricity for most of the day Thursday. With hundred degree heat, people had to deal with it or head somewhere else as Edison crews worked to restore power.

There was power at the Highlands Rec Center and Senior Center, where people could go to get out of the heat. A cooling station was also set up at the Patio Building at the Tri County Fairgrounds.

Debbie Hess with Southern California Edison said that an old cable was the problem. An Edison crew member described the problem as one of those things. He said that a crew from Victorville used high-tech radar equipment to isolate the problem. The crew member said that he planned to use low tech shovels, to dig the cable up to make the needed repairs.

Crews had the power back on by late afternoon.
