    Was told attempted car jacking?

  3. David Dennison January 7, 2020 at 1:46 pm #

,,,Aside from the store cashier getting wounded and putting LE and private citizens in harm’s way for a while, sounds to me like this story, and attempted robbery has a happy ending…

Am I to understand that you think the local citizenry and law enforcement were somehow put in more danger with one of the robbers being shot by his intended victim instead of moving on happily to his next armed robbery where his victim may have died? Or did I misunderstand something?

      • David Dennison January 8, 2020 at 6:23 am #

Bob Loblaw….huh ?…can’t understand what your saying there,so I think you misunderstood something…

        • Bob Loblaw January 8, 2020 at 10:12 am #

It sounded to me like you implied that the would be victim endangered the cops and the public more by killing the Guy who tried to rob him at gunpoint.

          • David Dennison January 8, 2020 at 12:32 pm #

Bob Loblaw…..not at all saying that…to put it bluntly, trying to say Bishop and other small towns here in the Sierra and elsewhere no longer have to worry about this criminal drawing down on them, maybe getting away and moving on with his life…no more robberies in this guy’s future…

          • Bob Loblaw January 8, 2020 at 9:09 pm #

@David- Evidently I misunderstood you. Your comment seemed like you were blaming the would-be victim for putting people in harms way. My mistake.

    • David Dennison January 7, 2020 at 5:36 pm #

Looking at my above post,my bad for choosing the words “happy ending”,maybe could’ve used better words to say…maybe like this could’ve turned out a LOT worse had the criminal gunman maybe shot and killed the cashier or customers in the store,or if he did successfully car-jack the vehicle, maybe having an accident during a pursuit injured or killed innocent people on the highway..if he had a successful robbery, how long would it be before he did it again, maybe thinking the little Mom and Pop stores here in the Owens Valley were easy targets and marks for him and his buddies…having been a victim of a strong-armed robbery in a store I was working back in the late 90’s,and the guy having gotten away with doing it,I wonder how many times he’s done the same thing since and gotten away with it,.,or worse maybe shot and killed someone if he met much resistance while doing it…at least this guy won’t have that chance for more victims along his merry way through life..

It wasn’t the clerk who was shot…read the full press release: https://www.uspdhub.com/OnlineBulletin.aspx?&BLID=FMBawSOA4aw%3D&ts=202001071717169746&fbclid=IwAR0yE1qEVbmLPuZKJWC21yPnr-TlU47e_SkAK6ckidp5BrgHB8VVoytOlB4

And this is just another story that should be out there to the people in California to show that guns can save lives when in the hands of a responsible gun owner. Hopefully more stories like this can help stop the attack against our 2nd amendment.

Judging by the votes on your comment, it makes it seem the deceased already has a fan base. I’m not at all surprised.

Instead of “Don’t mess with Texas” – it’s “Don’t mess with Bishop!”

  6. greg January 8, 2020 at 12:24 pm #

David, make a decision! If you are implying that an armed citizen put others at risk, you are correct. There is always risk when a weapon is presented. How do you feel about the armed asshole that attempted to rob the gas station? Do you think he put the public at risk? Get back to your play station in momma’s basement. Don’t come out until you have accomplished something.

    • David Dennison January 8, 2020 at 3:42 pm #

greg….Don’t be stupid…what you are saying I never said..when I stated putting LE and others at risk,I was refering to the criminal attempting to car-jack and/or rob the store…your smart-ass comment there at the end I won’t even address…don’t be a dumb-***…

So, the bad guy with a gun was killed by a good guy with a gun, that’s the bottom line.
As much as the gun grabbers of this country don’t want to hear it, chalk one up for the 2nd Amendment, the Constitution and WE THE PEOPLE, WE WON!

Lots of permit holders in Mammoth too. Tweekers be warned! Stay out of our town as well or you’ll end up like your buddy – with two in the chest. #2A

    • Stacy L Shofner January 12, 2020 at 1:56 am #

You should really know what your saying before you talk shit 1 the people involved where not “tweakers”as you put it nor where they from bishop idot 2 in the chest huh so because someone made a huge mistake because of a dumb bitch who pushed him over the edge he deserved to die??? Your about a dumb bitch get your facts straight before running your mouth he was actually a good man who made a bad choice like alot of us do!!!!

      • David Dennison January 12, 2020 at 1:39 pm #

Stacy….the bad choice he made was thinking he could come here to the Owens Valley and car-jack and/or rob a store, and then go on his merry way through life, surely commiting more strong arm crimes along the way…blaming the girlfriend for leading him astray?…gimme a break !…..you pull a gun on someone, let alone fire the gun,you get what’s coming….or was it,let me guess….he had no intention to rob anyone, and he was only “defending” himself…where,in all actuallity,if things had gone his way,he’d be driving off into the sunset with a stolen vehicle and a bunch of someone else’s cash…with a dead body lying by the gas pumps other than his own…

      • Chris January 13, 2020 at 6:37 am #

Stacy, one of Mr Blankenship’s Facebook friends stated that he was “on one” when this happened. If not a tweaker, does that mean he was a junkie? And it sounds like he just recently got out of jail? It’s pretty laughable to see his friends lamenting his death, saying he went out like a gangsta and that he’s gone to Valhalla… I don’t think that’s how Valhalla works.

Anyway, I hope they can raise more than $45 for Harold’s funeral.

Finaly! The p.o.s. met his match. The guy that killed the p.o.s. is a hero! It’s not poor dead criminal. What’s sad is that the hero will live with this whole situation for the rest of his life. I hope the girl that fled changes her life for the better.
Community needs to rally and stand strong for their hometown hero!
Crime is out of control! Bishop is peacefull so far. Allow these p.o.s to get away with a crime more will follow guaranteed.

    • Old Timer January 9, 2020 at 12:46 pm #

I don’t think when you are 46 years old you rate being called a “girl”. I hope we get some background info on these 2, I’m curious.

      • Roy January 9, 2020 at 1:33 pm #

The woman is a fugitive from New Mexico wanted for escape…There is no doubt she is not what you might call a upstanding lady.

    • Stacy L Shofner January 12, 2020 at 1:52 am #

The guy that was killed was not a piece of shit he made a bad choice like all of us do those who judge dont matter and those who matter dont judge

      • Steve January 12, 2020 at 4:49 pm #

He tried to murder somebody for a set of wheels. Yes, he’s a total POS.

I think this HERO should be the Grand Marshall of Mule Days!

  12. David Dennison January 13, 2020 at 8:34 am #

Bishop Local….IMO,the guy did the right thing, defended himself, and possibly saved the lives of others by doing what he did..what a firearm and a CCW holder is meant to do….but I doubt he feels he should be “hero-worshiped” for doing it…ask any Law Enforcement Officer that’s engaged with and had to shoot someone and they will tell you it’s a traumatic experience for them as well, having to do,and not something they want a pat-on-the-back or being named a Grand Marshall for doing…
