Donny Martin, the man who was hit by bull at the High School Rodeo Finals in June has died from the injuries in that accident.

Martin was working with the stock contractor at the High School Rodeo finals in Bishop. On June 15th, Martin was run over by a bull causing a serious head injury. Reports indicate that Martin was trying to distract the bull to keep it from injuring other people and getting out into the parking lot at the Fairgrounds.

According to Donny Martin.com, the man died at the Hospital in Reno on July 1, two weeks after the accident.

Martin had been an award winning bull fighter for over 20 years, who was said to have saved many lives in his long career working with the bulls in the arena. A bull fighter is another name for the rodeo clown whose job is to protect the riders from the bulls after the bull rider is bucked off.

Martin was a resident of Anderson California. He was 42 years old.

A memorial bull ride and celebration of life is scheduled this weekend in Penn Valley, near Grass Valley California. Family members are looking for donations to set up a California and Nevada High School Rodeo scholarship in Donny Martins name.
