In a dramatic smash up, a car and a motorcycle collided Tuesday evening at twilight, around 6:30pm. The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Bishop Police and Fire rushed to the scene when the accident was called in. Ambulances also arrived fast at the accident scene which was the area in and around the intersection of Spruce and Yaney Streets behind City Park.

According to the CHP 47 year old Patricia Peace of Bishop was driving a 1984 Chevrolet south on Spruce Street behind Vons at about 20 mph. 68 year old Michael Yanz of Bishop was driving a 1981 Yamaha motorcycle north on Spruce St. at about 20 mph.

Officers said that Ms. Peace drove over the center line into the northbound lanes directly in front of Mr. Yanz. The front of Peace’s car struck the front of Yanz’s motorcycle and Yanz was thrown to the ground. Peace continued southbound through the intersection of Yaney St. and finally collided with a water fountain in a parking lot near the park tennis court.

CHP officers did say they arrested Peace and that a DUI investigation is pending.
