She was also an artist, winning first place at Altrusa of the Eastern Sierra competition, becoming the featured artist the following year.

Sonia graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1956 and received her Associates Degree from College of the Canyons in 1986 and dedicated her life’s work to helping the handicapped.

Sonia married her high school sweetheart, Darryl Truelsen, in December 1956 and raised their family in Canyon Country, California. Later they moved to the Bishop Area in 1989, settling finally in Big Pine.

Sonia and her husband Darryl were blessed to make Grace Lutheran Church their spiritual foundation in their love for the Lord.

Sonia is survived by her daughter, Dawn; and her son, Eric and his wife, Cindy, and their three children, Benjamin, Cody and Alyssa.

Sonia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
