26-year-old Kevin Jarvis was looking forward to life.

The Bishop community mourns the tragic death of 26-year-old Kevin James Jarvis, who was a Bishop resident his entire life. He passed away on December 26th in Mammoth Lakes. Relatives and friends remember Kevin for his “kindness and sincerity.”

The Mono County Sheriff’s Department had reported that they responded to a call regarding an unresponsive male.  Officers said that they found Kevin Jarvis “without vital signs at a family member’s Mammoth Lakes home.”  A coroner’s investigation is underway.  Final cause of death is pending an autopsy and toxicology results.

Graveside funeral services were scheduled for Saturday, December 31st at 11 am at East Line Street Cemetery, Roy Chacon officiating with a gathering at the Rottner home following the service.

Kevin Jarvis was born and raised in Bishop, grew up hunting and fishing in the mountains and the valley.  Family said Kevin had a kind heart and loved all animals.  He graduated from Bishop Union High School and attended Butte Community College.  Kevin worked as a 5th generation carpenter for his father until recently attending and graduating from northwest Lineman College to persue his dream of being a lineman.

Kevin is survived by his father David Jarvis and stepmother Carolyn Jarvis; mother Donna McDermott and stepfather John; sisters Jamie Jarvis Tailer Marks and Katie Moore; brothers Thomas Marks and Curtis Moore; grandparents Mickey and Rosemarie Jarvis and Carol McKay; uncles and aunts Cyndi  & Dennis Rottner, Frank & Joannie Jarvis, Roy & Kim Chacon, Cherie & Less Hagan; great grandmother Jean Jarvis; cousins Tawni & Brock Romero, Garrett Rottner, Chase Leonard, Jessie Leonard, Brittnay and Derrick Linder, Brice Chacon and Clay Fimianni; best friend Bosco; niece Kinlei Romero; nephews Talon Romero and Ashton Linder; great uncles and aunts Rick & Yolanda Jarivs, Bonnie Roripaugh, and Carmen Fimianni.
