The correct date of this horrifying accident is 10/3/19, not 10/2. I know because I was there and one of the victims. My heart and prayers go out to the deceased man and all the other victims who suffered yesterday. The good folks at Mono Cone were very attentive to us victims. They were extremely upset. There by the grace of God go I. I am one of the lucky ones. My angels were looking after me for sure.

I don’t know Marvin as a friend but in all the years we have crossed paths while living in Mammoth he has been nothing but cordial, even though we never knew each other, other than as locals.

My heart goes out to all involved, even the driver. However, a driver’s first reaction to anything impacting their ability to control their vehicle has to be put their foot on the brake. I can’t imagine any coughing fit that would stop me from depressing the brake pedal. Worst case scenario from stopping in the traveled way while coughing is a rear end accident….a lot less deadly most likely. I imagine charges will be forthcoming, once CHP completes their investigation. Obviously not on purpose, but some type of negligence. I won’t begin to guess what charges,,,guess that’s up to the DA
