A dramatic plane crash at Bridgeport’s Bryant Field on Sunday, but the pilot and passengers got out with minor injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board now have the crash under investigation. Those who saw the plane skid away from the runway feared those inside may have been seriously hurt.

According to the Mono County OES Coordinator Sergeant Jeff Beard, a citizen in Bridgeport called the Sheriff’s Department and reported a plane crash at the air field. Sheriff’s deputies, Bridgeport Fire Department, Mono County Paramedics, the CHP and fire crews from the Bridgeport Ranger District responded.

As the photos from the Sheriff’s Department show, emergency crews found a single engine plane resting alongside Highway 182. The single engine plane was attempting to land at Bryant Field, according to Sergeant Beard. He said that for an unknown reason, the plane skidded away from the runway and came to rest alongside Highway 182. The pilot, Dave Linde, 61 of Truckee, CA, and the passengers got out of the wreckage on their own before the arrival of emergency crews.

The pilot and one passenger suffered minor cuts and abrasions. The third passenger sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Mammoth Hospital for treatment.
