Speaking of Thanksgiving … do you think The Sierra is ready to accept Syrian refugees as Christian ideology promotes? The pilgrims, who were considered outside mainstream Christians, came to this country seeking freedom from religious intolerance.

And if The Sierra deems it does in fact want to welcome the Syrian refugees do you agree with Donald Trump in making them register as Hitler demanded the Jews had to do in Nazi Germany?

  2. Low-Inyo November 25, 2015 at 10:52 am #

Mountain Watchdog…We all know what a fool and a liar Donald Trump is…single-handidly destroying the Republican party for years to come (as if they needed help from anyone else to do that),registering refugees is a stupid GOP idea, but do think they should be careful about who might have terrorist-ties…the CIA should have no trouble doing that without stupid Republican ideas to register all of them,or wanting to put micro-chips or GPS devises in their necks to be able to track them all 24/7….

    • Gary Trotman November 27, 2015 at 3:24 pm #

I Will Enlighten you this one time Low Inyo .
The C.I.A. Is Prohibited from Operating within the Borders of the United States .
That is the job of the FBI .
But since as we speak the Federal Bureau of Investigation is Actively Tracking at least 48 High Risk ISIS suspects that are already here in our Homeland .
Why you think the Citizens of the United States of America should be subjected to More Terror and Death at the hands of Islamic Jihadists is a question only you can answer .
Seems to me that Donald Trump is mainly concerned with our best interests.
Not the interests of the Religion of Islam , Which has been at war with Christianity for over 2000 years.

  3. Trouble November 25, 2015 at 5:14 pm #

Mountain go easy on Donald Trump. He’s actually going to save the republican party from themselves.

    • Mountain Watchdog November 27, 2015 at 3:57 pm #

The far-right GOP notion that the country should always be governed by “The Ruling Class”
is something serious potential GOP elected officials better try to distance itself from – if it ever wants to win another General Election. Far too many little guys than silver-spooners.

  4. Mountain Watchdog November 27, 2015 at 9:42 am #

Seems to me Trump is actually a “plant” from the other side who is doing everything he can to expose the far-right people for the radical and fascist-type they are coming across to be. As a person who has voted for BOTH sides in presidential elections, my concern is that the country will be voting Democratic for … who knows how long? There are far more little guys than the rich. This will insure graft to the extent America has not seen before.

The only way out of the nightmare of citizens not trusting either side, is to develop a one-term-and-your-out policy. This may at least slow down the corruption that exists (on both sides of the fence) today, since it is perfectly legal (or easy to hide) the money that exists that make our politician filthy rich while the number of non-rich grows daily.

    • Low-Inyo November 27, 2015 at 5:55 pm #

Mountain Watchdog….Ya know,I’ve been thinking that for a while now too, about Trump being a Democratic “plant”….back when he announced,we all knew he had little chance of being the GOP nominee, let alone President…but when he started exposing the racist and fascist ideas, lots of the racist and fascist Republicans went along with him…and there are a LOT of them….I think more than he even expected. The more stupid and racist things he said, the better he did in the polls. The Dems know there’s no way in hell he’s going to win the election, and with Trump’s latest spew of crap I think the GOP knows it too…and now their hands are tied…who else to run ?…..and that threat of him running third party…like I’ve said before….the chickens have come home to roost…..gonna get intresting,as well as entertaining.

  5. DESCO November 27, 2015 at 6:05 pm #

Nice thing about Trump is he’s already filthy rich. And the fact that he is #1 in the polls tells me he speaks for the silent majority who are afraid to express their beliefs out loud.

    • Mountain Watchdog November 28, 2015 at 1:50 pm #

DESCO – Did you think there is any truth behind the assumption that a lot of today’s hardcore GOP supporters worship filthy rich people? As if the have all the answers for say the growing number of unemployed and homeless?

      • Gary Trotman November 29, 2015 at 11:39 am #

If you are Able Bodied and of Sound Mind there is no reason to be Unemployed and Homeless in the United States of America.
Especially if you are a Citizen with at least a High School Education.
Just Lazy and unwilling to try.

        • Low-Inyo November 29, 2015 at 5:35 pm #

Gary Trotman…..With this one,I’ve got to agree with you…at least with the part about unemployed….but the homelessness, maybe not so much…there’s lots of low-paying jobs out there,if you want to work for less than $12.00 an hour…in some cases,a lot less than that…but if you do,in some areas, hard to get into a home and able to pay your bills if your making minimum wage. That’s where subsidized housing comes in and helping those that are willing to work, and working, but still unable to come up with first, last, and deposits for an apartment or house…then able to save up and get into their own place….THAT is what subsidized housing was meant to do for people….not what it seems it’s turned into.

        • DESCO November 29, 2015 at 8:16 pm #

          @ Gary and others,
          I hope all of you never are;
          a) 71 years old and no longer physically able to perform your duties at the same level you used to but are still capable of turning in an honest day’s work.
          b) Been replaced by three illegals who collectively make, per hour, about the same as I used to make working alone but, who are incapable of doing as much work and of the same quality as I did.
          c) Since I cannot and will not learn a foreign language in order to be a supervisor on a job in California, USA, ever be able to work in my chosen profession again.
Just a few thoughts from the silent majority.

        • Mountain Watchdog November 30, 2015 at 8:55 am #

Herbert Hoover during the Great Depression refused to admit homelessness and unemployed people existed in the wealthiest country on earth. It took photojournalists such as Dorothea Lange to finally wake him from his slumber.

I see the blinders are being used once again, only this time race is the motivating factor and those screaming the loudest are the last to admit it.

    • Mountain Watchdog December 10, 2015 at 10:55 am #

America has been dark before. FDR indiscriminately rounded up Japanese-Americans and put some them in prison camps not far from where we live.

It seems to me, this time around, the darkness first manifested itself with such fascist-sounding spokespersons such as Limbaugh and Coulter gaining popularity. The prejudice is definitely spreading in that some believe Trump would be the best thing for the country.

America has not been so polarized since the Civil War days.

  6. Gary Trotman November 27, 2015 at 6:36 pm #

What you guys do not understand is the fact that Donald Trump needs no donations , He needs no Super Pac fund raisers .
He is paying for all of this himself . therefore he will owe no favors.
Has Made no Promises for Support .
Donald trump cannot be BOUGHT .
He Is Pro Marriage and Has kids , He is a capitalist who is also against the welfare State. He Is a Patriot, And he is for preserving our Borders / Language / Heritage.
And i think that fact is beginning to irritate many minority groups who have been attempting to force their unsavory lifestyles onto the Majority of American Citizens whether we like it or not.

    • Mountain Watchdog November 29, 2015 at 9:05 am #

What a lot of us don’t understand is why would anyone support a mega-wealthy showman who has no problem coming across as racist, sexist, total jerk as the most viable candidate for the most powerful position in the country … because he belongs to a certain political party.

      • Low-Inyo November 29, 2015 at 1:20 pm #

Mountain Watchdog….It’s because of his angry-ness….angry at the World, like a LOT of older Republican men seem to be nowdays….even here in Inyo and Mono Counties…angry at immigration, whether it’s legal or illegal….angry that an African American was elected President, not once but twice…angry because it looks quite possible a woman might be elected next…and then there’s the spin the angry men want to suck into and believe…Democrats trying to take everyones guns away, trying to turn the Country into a welfare and refugee safe-haven…..trying to take peoples rights away from them..Donald Trump is the PERFECT angry man’s candidate…they know there is NO WAY in hell he’s electable….therefore, able to make them even angrier when he loses come November 2016,and giving them at least 4 more years to stay angry…’s kinda like an angry cycle they like to revel in.

        • Gary Trotman November 29, 2015 at 6:36 pm #

The Country Already is a Safe Haven for Illegal Immigrants and Multi-Generational Welfare Leeches .
This Country Already is 19 Trillion In National Debt (ONLY 6 WHEN BUSH LEFT).
One Failure after Another, One Scandal after Another .
          Obamacare a complete (UNCONSTITUTIONAL) Failure.
19 year old African American THUGS who Commit Felony Strong Arm Robberies and Assault Police Officers are eulogized by Obama like they were little innocent ANGELS.
I could go on and on but i will never ever make a dent . That is Because you feel Entitled to things you never Built , Money you never Earned .
A Country you never loved .
I am Going to stop now , Before i tell you how i really feel .

          • Low-Inyo November 30, 2015 at 4:46 pm #

Gary Trotman…Your facts and figures there are a bunch of falsehoods and lies….now don’t get me wrong,I’m not calling you a liar for posting them…but it does seem to me you might be one of those I mentioned…an angry guy that wants to suck into believing the lies your hearing…..don’t believe everything you hear on “Hannity” and the FOX NEWS network…and with your post below, the lowest point of “respect and honor” of the United States among the world was when George W. Bush was the “leader”….and if other countries are watching those GOP debates and what the GOP candidates have to say now,it’s making our election process the laughing-stock of the world…

        • Mountain Watchdog November 30, 2015 at 6:29 am #

Excellent explanation Low-Inyo. And these angry sorts play right into the polarizing ways of those who have everything to gain from it (radio shows, books, etc): Coulter, Limbaugh, Hannity … and they are “de-friending” those who don’t agree with their anger, by the sackful.

“I never consider a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.”

          – Thomas Jefferson

          • Gary Trotman November 30, 2015 at 12:32 pm #

When a Political Philosophy such as the Insanity of Progressive Liberalism is well on its way to breaking the Backbone of what was once the Most Honored and Respected nation on earth you can bet your backside you will not only lose the respect and companionship of friends , But you will probably lose the love and support of close family members .
Playing the Rebel is one thing.
            Outright Treason is Another .

          • Gary Trotman November 30, 2015 at 3:34 pm #

Thomas Jefferson would have never been friends with the likes of any of today,s Liberal Democrats in the first place . lol

          • Gary Trotman December 1, 2015 at 9:40 am #

I do have the proof and the facts i need to verify everything i say . Unlike you who trudge along in Liberal Lockstep with MSNBC and the other Liberal Media Propaganda mills .
I rarely watch Couch Potato Nightly News on the Mainstream Networks.
I Prefer to get my news from independent sources who are not bound by ideology and bias to one side or the other .
And you did call me a LIAR .
I do get a kick out of your Denial , 7 years into Barrack Hussain Obama,s Term as President and you are still blaming Bush.
I am not a bit surprised , Responsibility is a tough road for Liberals.

          • Charles O. Jones December 5, 2015 at 7:42 pm #

            “Thomas Jefferson would have never”…

And Ronald Reagan himself wouldn’t stand a chance of getting elected by todays right wing fanatics. Reagan was pragmatic. There seems to be very little room for pragmatism with the right today. Funny how things change.

        • show don't tell November 30, 2015 at 11:07 am #

Your damn right people are angry, and 28 years of Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, is enough!
The silent majority is waking up. It would be an absolute disgrace if Hillary is elected POTUS.
Gee….let’s see… a billionaire businessman, who contributes to the economy, or career politician (s) who do nothing but take money from donors ?

          • Mountain Watchdog November 30, 2015 at 1:26 pm #

            @ show don’t tell

You must have forgotten about the other angry American. He’s the one who clearly remembers the bogus War on Iraq that was based on faulty intelligence (no WMDs were ever found) and made Halliburton and Lockheed Martin (Mr and Mrs Cheney were former CEOs) gazillions at the expense of dead US soldiers and the US taxpayer. Also forgotten: the ill-feelings of Muslim radicals who embrace an-eye-for-an-eye philosophy.

          • Low-Inyo December 1, 2015 at 12:17 pm #

show don’t tell…I hardly think 30 % (and dropping) of the Republican base is a “silent majority”….more like 30 % are liars, racists, fascists, and fools to think Trump has a snowballs chance of winning the upcoming election….you know it and I know it….watch and see.

    • antoniolupi November 30, 2015 at 1:39 pm #

Very pro-marriage. He’s had like three of them.

      • Gary Trotman December 1, 2015 at 10:27 am #

At least all of his Marriages were TRADITIONAL , lol
        Get my Meaning .
Chew on that one for a While. Haaa Haaa Haaa .

        • Low-Inyo December 1, 2015 at 3:49 pm #

Gary Trotman…..I think when the time comes when Trump is standing in the line at the pearly gates, even though he claims to be a “Christian”,he’s going to have a lot harder time getting past the gate-keeper than some that maybe didn’t have your “traditional ” marriage….chew on that for a while…..

          • Gary Trotman December 1, 2015 at 8:06 pm #

Long Before Donald Trump is standing in line at the pearly gates he will be your PRESIDENT.
            FOR 8 YEARS . lol

        • antoniolupi December 1, 2015 at 4:43 pm #

Yes…I will puzzle over that riddle for awhile. Particularly the part about how that makes him more qualified for president than anyone else on the planet.

    • antoniolupi November 30, 2015 at 1:52 pm #

      @ Gary Trotman

I would add – Marriage is an individual choice, and if you are going to judge someone’s competency to lead the world based on marriage ability, Donald solidly fails. I assume you mean hetero-sexual marriage, which again, isn’t really any of your business and is hardly a metric I’d vote for leadership by. Monkeys can procreate, too.

“He Is a Patriot” – Could you please describe how he is a patriot? It’s not his military service. It’s his red hat, I guess?

“And i think that fact is beginning to irritate many minority groups who have been attempting to force their unsavory lifestyles onto the Majority of American Citizens whether we like it or not.”

And this last comment begs elaboration – what “unsavory lifestyles”? Are you talking about hispanics, blacks, gays, women or…? And what, precisely, did any of these people ever do to you or your lifestyle? I have a suspicion that if you’re that bigoted, you don’t know anyone but old white farts like yourself anyway. I assume you still have all your guns and freedom, speak one language, live in a lily white community, and are only openly interested in partners of the opposite sex.

  7. tony cumia November 29, 2015 at 6:26 am #

He is not one of ‘them’. That’s his appeal. The crony capitalism has brought this country to where it is…Hillary is owned by Wall street and Hollywood 1%ers and union thugs [like our current blamer in chief] must end..Donald is owned by…..Donald…not hard to figure out.

  8. Trouble November 30, 2015 at 11:55 am #

Tony, I think you are making a mistake labeling unions with wall street and crooney capitalizim. There has been a all out war on unions since the seventies and the one percenters are clearly the victors. The blue collar and middle class have been crushed by the lack of unions in this country in my opinion.

    • tony cumia December 2, 2015 at 7:35 am #

they did have their place at one time…Im talking about the millions that are given to politicians, Usually to the dismay of the union workers that support other candidates…The American Auto Industry, The US Textile industry,The US steel industry and the USPS…how are they doing with their union representation?…Just a thought

      • Trouble December 6, 2015 at 5:26 am #

Tony, unions were crushed by law makers that did not receive their support.
When I was young, all jobs came with medical, dental life insurance. Pension, vacation and profit sharing. Now the one 1% pocket every penny of that. It’s not right.

  9. show don't tell December 1, 2015 at 5:47 pm #

@lowinyo who’s drawing the crowds? Hillary? Rubio? Socialist Bernie? Negative. It’s Trump. Everytime the establishment squirms on the left and on the right, the more I like Trump.

You mow lawns for a living, I believe I saw that in one of your MANY..posts.
You and Trump are Entrepreneurs! Why would you diss him?
You also told someone recently to not believe fox news. That’s true. I would tell you to believe NOTHING FROM THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA. It’s all lies and propaganda.

    Give em’ Hell Trump!

  10. Gary Trotman December 1, 2015 at 6:31 pm #

The Trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant!
It is just that they know so much that isn’t so.

    Ronald Reagan .

    He He Hee . lol

    • Trump 2016 December 4, 2015 at 10:40 am #

Trump is a man of action! He is the MAN for the job (Shillery is A JOKE!!!!), and won’t take criticism from anyone! He says the things about the people who are taking OVER our country that others won’t!!!

Trump understands the struggle of the middle class in OUR Country!!!

He know that America is the greatest nation in history, and that Obama has been an international humiliation. He will make out Country GREAT AGAIN, because he knows that Americans are the best people of the WORLD!!!!

      • Low-Inyo December 4, 2015 at 2:30 pm #

HaHaHaHaHa !!!!..Hey,antoniolupi….There are those angry CAPS again that you mentioned in your post below….coming from someone that knows Trump has no chance whatsoever of becoming President of the United States….heard yesterday on FOX NEWS…..their poll saying Trump would destroy Hillary if the election were held today…probably coming from the same guy that stated minutes before the polls closed back in 2012 that Romney was going to win in a landslide.

      • Terry December 5, 2015 at 10:36 am #

Trump is a joke, an entertainer, not a leader. He is divisive. He is a rude clown not even suitable for a child’s birthday party.

        • tony cumia December 5, 2015 at 12:38 pm #

and he is more successful than you will ever dream to be….PLUS he isnt one of ‘them’

          • Low-Inyo December 5, 2015 at 4:48 pm #

tony…I think it depends on what you consider “successful “…a 70+ rude, old, angry man..a racist,a fascist,a liar, hated and/or laughed at by millions of people….looked at as a joke and an embarrassment to this Country by the rest of the world ..unable to do any of the things he claims he can do if he were to get elected….a pretty, young bought- wife waiting for him to die….lousy, spoiled kids waiting on his inheritance…maybe he’s got more money than he’ll ever be able to spend, but when he’s at the pearly gates, that money won’t buy his way in.

          • Joe December 5, 2015 at 5:48 pm #

How do define successful? Being rich? Being a jerk? If Trump defines success then you can have it. He’s not my idea of success.

        • Mountain Watchdog December 7, 2015 at 4:52 pm #

I still believe Trump is a plant from the other side who is deliberately trying to make the party he claims to represent appear to be Neo-Nazis.

Mountain Watchdog- Trmp is a true representative of the current “so called”

Sounds like you have a serious chip on your shoulder. Keep digging, maybe that will help relieve some of your tension.

          • antoniolupi December 5, 2015 at 12:16 pm #

Oh, boy howdy. I’ve been challenged to an intellectual duel by a ditch digger. Only in Inyo….

To answer your question (and assuming our trench is measured in inches deep), sounds like a morning’s worth of work. The question I have is, where are you finding loose, sandy soil in this valley? I have to use a rock bar to get make any significant progress in this hardpan. It definitely makes the job easier. But, thats just reflection of how entitled I am, I suppose.

For the record, I may be college educated, and have a basic command of the English language, but at the end of the day, I’m a good ole homegrown Bishop Boy like yourself, and I am completely confident in my knowledge of how to saddle a horse, read a topographical map, follow a trail over slickrock, memorize landmarks, build a fire in rain, treat snakebite, rappel down a cliff, glissade down a glacier, read a compass, find water under sand, load a mule, splint a broken bone, bury a body, patch a rubber boat, portage a waterfall, survive a blizzard, avoid lightning, cook a porcupine, comfort a girl during a thunderstorm, predict the weather, dodge falling rock, climb out of a box canyon, and pour piss out or a boot.

            In closing:

          • Low-Inyo December 5, 2015 at 4:57 pm #

antoniolupi….THAT is a GREAT answer and it….but I’m sure he’s going to think it’s all fine and dandy, but those things you listed,he’ll see most of them as not ways to be “making money”……therefore,as his hero Trump likes to state so often about others that don’t agree with him,it probably makes you a “loser”……

It may or not be so that folks might have a weapon , maybe a gun , a knife or a club behind their back rather than a friendly hand to shake or lend when we encounter one another these days. All the bravado the empowerment of our accessories that fortify our own image of oursevlves whether in the world or in the mirror is wonder and a horror to behold . Not many in the NRA invision themselves in ballistic gear, assault weapon in hand spraying a room of innocents with your wife at your side together , abandoning your newborn child . How could anyone ever be that evil . We have principals evolved from the quest of liberty from our founders and when there is a conflict between domestic tranquility and the right to bear arms where is the balance, where is the line between the two.
My truck is registered , insured, I have a driver’s license and a credit card for fuel . My cell phone is a perfect tracking device. If someone is watching and they are everytime I drive 395, I hope I am paying attention to the road, to the laws and the common courtesy that we all need to do to protect life and limb. You can bet that my truck is more important to my survival than my weapons . You can bet that my thoughts go out to those killed and injured and their families and the God I know is waititng for us to do something, anything to fix this. Is it up to the folks in the NRA who know alot about weapons to find a solution forward or do they need to get the hell out of the way of folks who will end this mess? No one is taking my truck away as long as I am responsible , law abiding and a human being extending courtesy and respect to all. Maybe we need to think a bit more about our humanity.

….and Trump’s poll numbers continue to rise.

    Trump 2016

    • Low-Inyo December 5, 2015 at 7:15 pm #

….”and Trump’s poll numbers continue to rise “…..35 % of the REPUBLICAN vote(mainly the racists) ..that means 65 % of the REPUBLICANS don’t want him in the picture….Hillary isn’t my first choice to become President, but if Trump runs against her, she’ll get my vote…problem with Trump is there isn’t too many Democrats or independents that would choose him over Hillary, even if Hillary isn’t their first choice….I know of Republicans that despise Hillary, but would choose her over Trump.

      • Presto December 5, 2015 at 11:51 pm #

The racist card. Isn’t that an original play.
Hillary, the woman who cares so much for woman’s rights. You know, the woman who supports and loves her husband who is also known as “the serial cheater.”

The Clinton Moral Compass! Women and fellow Americans should be so proud.

      • Gary Trotman December 6, 2015 at 1:28 am #

You are the ONLY person on this website who keeps screaming RACIST / RACIST / RACIST, Low-Inyo.
What Happened , A family member Broke U.S. law by sneaking across our border without Permission or Invitation, Got Caught. Whats your Problem.
I am really getting Sick of your Vile Accusations .

        • Low-Inyo December 6, 2015 at 10:31 am #

Gary Trotman……see my post below…..want me to get into that ?

  14. Gary Trotman December 5, 2015 at 10:00 pm #

Not Going to waste my time on this useless back and forth any longer . Am going to enjoy this CHRISTMAS and attempt to shut out the reality of the Mess my country is in at least until after the new year .
Liberalism has Failed Miserably and the destruction it has done to our Society and American Heritage is painfully obvious all around us .
The People Voted against Gay Marriage over and over again , Even in California it was Voted Down . But Your Liberal President forced it on the Country Anyway .
And Now you want Transgender Bathrooms .

Liberals Forced Massive Illegal and Legal Immigration on us Against our Will , Now Americans are being Murdered in the Streets by Cultures who will never assimilate.

Now We find that in actuality we may entering a mini Ice Age . The Liberal Global Warming Mass Panic that has Cost the USA billions should just be Overlooked ! When Actually the Instigators of this Global Fraud Should be Imprisoned.

The Only Truth is that it is really sad that the Rest of the Citizens of the United States are going to have to Pay and Suffer for the Stupidity of Obama and the Liberals who elected him.

    Have a Merry CHRISTMAS.

    • Charles O. Jones December 6, 2015 at 1:02 pm #

I figured you as one of those guys who’d go on and on with your political and social views at holiday gatherings, even though nobody wanted to hear it. Glad to see I was wrong and you’re planning to shut all of that out for the time being.

      Merry Christmas amigo.

      Gary Trotman –

      Define “liberalism.”

      • Mountain Watchdog December 8, 2015 at 1:19 pm #

Liberalism is about human liberty and its gradual progress over the last 500 years. This is the proper identification of a magnificent intellectual tradition. There is simply no other term available to signify the great political and intellectual movement that substituted free enterprise and the market economy for the precapitalistic methods of production; constitutional representative government for the absolutism of kings or oligarchies; and freedom of all individuals from slavery, serfdom, and other forms of bondage.

Liberalism secured private property. It ended slavery. It brought equal freedom to women. It stopped wars of conquest. It broke down the class and caste systems. It freed speech. It stopped religious persecution. It opened economic opportunities for everyone. It cast moral disapproval on despotisms of all sorts.

This is the core of the word – not a demonized definition overused by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity.

  15. Low-Inyo December 6, 2015 at 7:42 am #

Gary Trotman…Let’s not stop at your complaints about Liberalism, gay marriage, legal and illegal immigration,Global Warming, entitlements, the poor, and treason against President Obama….why not launch a tirade against the African Americans and South Americans too, like you’ve done on other posts and web-sites you visit before you go.

  16. Mountain Watchdog December 6, 2015 at 11:35 am #

The word “liberal” (not-so-secretive-term-for-Democrat) has been demonized today to make $$$ for talk-radio shows and book writers (Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, et. al) are reminding us of what it was like during the Joe McCarthy witch-hunt era where the opposing party was likened to a communistic plot.

Mainstream America is much too smart to NOT figure that game out.

  17. Presto December 7, 2015 at 5:41 pm #

•low inyo• I have a question. How does Trumps stance on Muslims make him a Racist?
Answer- it cant. Muslim is not a race. It is religion. Any Race can be Muslim if they choose to follow the Koran.

    • antoniolupi December 9, 2015 at 11:13 am #

Oh Presto…you’re so clever. That’s great point, because, approximately 1.6 billion people in the world, or about 1 in every 4 people in the world practice Islam. So Trump’s stance can’t possibly be race based, he’s just categorizing 1/4 the population of the planet as terrorists.

How is it possibly to defend the Second Amendment and forsake the First? The Bill of Rights of the United States protects the free exercise of religion first and foremost. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

  18. Presto December 7, 2015 at 8:50 pm #

Did FDR ever use MODERATE Nazi, or Moderate Commie? Why don’t you ask Obama why his Dept. Of Justice won’t enforce all of our gun laws, and all of our immigration laws that are already in place?

Plenty of laws for them to enforce but they choose to ignore them. NRA has been begging Obama for years to enforce the laws already on the books. But, no they want more laws and if you disagree your labeled a racist. When the Left can’t win an argument they run to race card.
When I watch both the left and right scream about Trump, the more and more I like him. Why? Because if the establishment hates him, that means he has the people’s back!

    • Charles O. Jones December 8, 2015 at 2:59 pm #

And don’t forget to thank FDR for Manzanar. If Trump gets elected he may just put Manzanar back in operation.

    • antoniolupi December 9, 2015 at 11:20 am #

Presto – FDR never used “Radicalized Nazi” or “Radicalized Commie” either. Are you suggesting we carpet bomb (per Senator Cruz’s suggestion) Islamic people without discrimination?

    • Mountain Watchdog December 10, 2015 at 2:02 pm #

Seems to me, Hitler stereotyped entire groups and look what he accomplished.

He was also successful at getting previously good people to say and do horrible things to those they viewed as different or threatening.

@charlie o’ I hope you remember that President Jimmy Carter Banned All Iranians into the U.S.A. during the hostage crisis.

    • Mountain Watchdog December 10, 2015 at 6:56 pm #

The Carter administration attempted to mitigate anti-American feeling by promoting a new relationship with the de facto Iranian government and continuing military cooperation in hopes that the situation would stabilize. However, on October 22, 1979, the United States permitted the Shah—who was ill with lymphoma—to enter New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center for medical treatment. The State Department had discouraged the request, understanding the political delicacy, but after pressure from influential figures including former United States Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and Council on Foreign Relations chairman David Rockefeller, the Carter administration decided to grant the Shah’s request.

      • Trouble December 13, 2015 at 9:01 am #

Mountain, people seem to agnor the fact that George Bush was over in Parris negotiating with Iran, without the permission of our elected officials at that time.

        • wayne December 13, 2015 at 4:54 pm #

Actually, we need to track it back to 1985, Ronald Reagan, Donald Rumsfeld, Oliver North and the ” Iran Contragate” arms deal.

  20. Charles O. Jones December 9, 2015 at 1:19 pm #

I’m glad to see you got your talking points memo from the conservative echo chamber. But hey, maybe your dream will come true and he will get elected. Then we will see just how far a demagogue like Trump can take the so inclined. Pass the popcorn please.

BTW, Mussolini would be proud of your Italian forum name. And equally proud of your choice for President.

  21. Presto December 10, 2015 at 11:25 pm #

8 USC §1182 states: Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

    • Mountain Watchdog December 11, 2015 at 12:38 pm #

I wonder if there will ever come a day when a President deems as malalignment, a class of people called “liberals” (the neoconservative Limbaugh/Coulter definition – not the original one) as detrimental to the interests of the United States and by proclamation suspend their constitutional rights and/or arrest them?

    • Low-Inyo December 11, 2015 at 12:39 pm #

Presto…..You speak as if Donald Trump is President…..Donald Trump isn’t (and NEVER will be ) President of the United States.

Low inyo- how can you read a post that I copy & paste from law and it turn into that.

Well, I really shouldn’t be suprised. You are the one that screams racist every chance you get!

        • Low-Inyo December 13, 2015 at 12:48 pm #

Presto…No one said anything about racism about your post there…what I found funny is it’s almost like you were saying what “President” Trump was saying and what he would do…and “plans” to do…is something that would be all legal and O.K…..Trump is the only one talking about keeping any religious group from entering the U.S.,whether they are U.S. citizens or not….none of the REAL Presidential hopefuls are stating that….just your “President” Donald Trump…..LOL !!

    • John December 11, 2015 at 1:03 pm #

I just keep buying another gun every 30 days

I can only hope when the terrorist hit it’s somewhere where liberals hang out

  22. Low-Inyo December 12, 2015 at 8:02 pm #

John….YOU are the type that sounds much more dangerous than the terrorists…I always say the ones that gripe and complain the most about President Obama trying to take “everyones” guns away are usually the ones that either don’t even own a gun….if they do, they don’t go out and use it much, usually meaning they don’t know how to properly use it….or if they were confronted by a gunman or a “terrorist”,they’d be the first to drop and wimper…always a lot of big talk untill they face the situation of looking down the barrel of a gun.

    • Presto December 13, 2015 at 12:52 pm #

Low- your post to John was the most insulting ignorant embarrassing posts I have ever seen from you.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut
      and be thought a fool
      Than to open it
      And remove all doubt.

And low you have definitely accomplished that!

  23. Warpaint December 13, 2015 at 1:43 am #

I keep asking people: “Can somebody tell me about all the big
Rallies for Cruz, Rubio, Bush, Carson, Kasich, Christie??? Are they too
having several a week? Does anybody have the listings of previous
rallies and upcoming rallies? The location, the venue, the attendances?”

Trump is the only one working. It’s glaring. He’s not just working,
he’s been chugging along lapping the field day-in and day-out for months
now. Nobody is attracting the people like Trump. Nobody. But wait,
that’s going to annoy the naysayers that attack his supporters as idiots
& low information boobs. So let’s take the crowds out of it.

Let’s pretend that Trump isn’t getting the huge crowds. Ignore the movement. Ignore the people.

Is there anybody out there working as HARD as he is?

Is there anybody as driven & disciplined at getting his message out?

Is there anybody doing as many interviews, appearances and events, non-stop for months & months as he is?

Who is working for it the most? Who?

Now this leads one to think, Hmmm…..why aren’t the other candidates
working? Seriously, there’s nobody else even trying to campaign other
than Trump. The rest of he field is 100% weaksauce posturing &
hoping Trump will flame out and/or depending on the media’s Propaganda.
What are they actually doing? Anything? It’s glaringly obvious. Why
aren’t they campaigning? Where’s the rallies? Where’s the energy? It’s
not there. There is no there, there. They’re not EVEN TRYING. How
telling is that? Why are they not even trying? What does this reveal
    about the field?

If Jeb, Rubio, Cruz or ANYBODY other than Trump was regularly having
massive rallies that attracted thousands of people, do you think the
media would be quiet about it?

How about just ONE rally? Wouldn’t they be shouting like banshees
from every rooftop in the nation? Touting the surging candidate? “Jeb Rally is sold out!! 10,000 in attendance! He’s a serious contender! Jeb is surging!!!!!”

What do we have? Nothing. Zilch. Nada.A big Zero.

Trump is the only one actually working. There is no debate about this.
If one steps back from the nattering propaganda and looks at the
reality of the situation, it’s quite clear. Nobody is even coming close
to his energy, dedication, wit, work ethic, or expertise. Some may even
claim his handling of the media is genius. But, Ya know what I respect
more than his genius? His unrelenting and disciplined work ethic. It’s
    like nobody I’ve ever seen

    • Mountain Watchdog December 13, 2015 at 6:28 pm #

Trump is just a billionaire who is bored, knows how some Americans worship money and power, and doesn’t give a rat’s ass if he comes across as a Nazi.
Hitler pulled off the same thing (stereotyped and scapegoated entire groups of people to blame for Germany’s problems in the 30s) in just a couple of years. We know how that ended up.

    • Charles O. Jones December 13, 2015 at 6:34 pm #

I know a number of people that are smart, successful, disciplined, hard workers. That doesn’t mean they’d make a good President.

  24. Low-Inyo December 13, 2015 at 10:49 am #

warpaint….Are you talking about my drunk uncle that likes to flap his jaws,”tell it like it is” (according to him ),likes to stir-up things that doesn’t really make sense, and loves the “drama” he produces, thinking he’s got the answer to everything…..or are you talking about Trump ?

  25. Nancy L. Smith December 13, 2015 at 5:14 pm #

Most candidates are in Iowa or New Hampshire as their primaries are in a few weeks or, if they are elected officials, they are wrapping up in D.C. for their month long Holiday Break. Oh, I did see that Carly had a meet and greet last week where 4 people showed up. Only other candidate drawing really large crowds is Bernie Sanders – the man without super pacs or corporate shills.

  26. Bob Todd December 14, 2015 at 8:57 am #

I think everyone has covered their ground here … on a story originally about Thanksgiving celebrations in the Eastern Sierra.

Comments have just become more name-calling. We’re done.
