Mammoth Police report that Saturday night just before 8:00, officers were dispatched to Mammoth Hospital on a report of a shirtless man breaking windows.

Officers on scene reported loud yelling from inside the open automatic doors at the hospital. Police say an officer got out of his patrol car and saw a shirtless man advancing towards him with clenched fists.

Police say that when the officer ordered the suspect to get on the ground, the suspect failed to comply and continued advancing towards the officer. The officer grabbed the suspect in an attempt to put him in a control hold and the suspect grabbed the officer around the waist. The officer took the suspect to the ground and called for assistance on his hand held radio as the suspect continued to struggle and fight with the officer, according to the police.

Police say, a second MLPD officer arrived and used his Taser on the suspect, until the suspect began to comply with the officers. A third MLPD officer arrived and the three officers were able to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect was Jayson Bryan Jordon Sheard, 21, of El Cajon, California. Officers report that the suspect continued to be combative in the back of the patrol car. He attempted to kick a window out of the patrol car and pushed the window out of its frame, police report.

Officers discovered that the glass exit door to the emergency room was broken out and a softball size rock was found thirty feet inside the hallway. Police say that hospital staff identified the suspect as the person who broke the windows.
Jayson Sheard was charged with vandalism, assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and drunk in public. Sheard was booked and transported to the Mono County Jail in Bridgeport.
